One of the London attackers was carrying an Irish ID card

It’s reported that an Irish ID was found on one of the three attackers.

It has emerged that one of the terrorists shot dead in London on Saturday was carrying an Irish ID card and lived in Dublin for a time.

RTÉ reported that the man is believed to be of Moroccan origin and was not known to Gardaí for any crime or security issues.

Sky News are reporting that Gardaí are assisting The Metropolitan Police since it has emerged the man lived in Ireland for a time.

A special meeting with security and intelligence officers is being held by Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan at Garda Headquarters in Dublin on Monday to discuss the security issues arising from the attacks.

The news comes after armed Garda units were dispatched to cities around Ireland as part of beefed up security in the wake of Saturday night’s terror attack in London.

According to TheJournal.ie, members of the Garda Armed Support Unit (ASU) have been directed to Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Kilkenny and began their duties on Sunday evening at 7pm.
