The body of a 39-year-old man was discovered by gardaí after a reported stabbing in Kildare in the early hours of Sunday.
Gardaí arrived at the scene of the incident in Sallins shortly after 3.15 on Sunday morning, where they discovered the man's body with fatal injuries at the scene.
The Mirror report that the incident happened at a back of a house during a party.
A man in his 20s was arrested in connection with the incident and is being questioned at a Naas Garda station.
It is understood that both men are from Eastern Europe originally.
Gardaí have also confirmed that Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to the deceased's family.
In a statement to JOE, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: "Gardaí in Naas are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his 30s, which occurred following an incident at a residence in Sallins, County Kildare, on Sunday, May 12th, 2024.
"Gardaí and Emergency services were alerted shortly after 3:15am regarding an incident at a residential property in Sallins Park, Sallins.
"Upon arrival, a man in his 30s was discovered with fatal injuries.
"He was pronounced deceased at the scene a short time later. A man in his early 20s was arrested at the property and is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at a Garda Station in County Kildare.
"The body of the deceased remains remain at the scene, which has been preserved for examination by the Garda Technical Bureau.
"The local Coroner and office of the State Pathologist have been informed, and preparations are underway for a post-mortem examination.
"A senior investigating officer (SIO) has been appointed to lead the inquiry, and an incident room has been established at Naas Garda Station.
"Additionally, a Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to keep the deceased's family informed of developments.
"The investigation is ongoing, and further updates will follow."
