Gardai provide update on Drimnagh shooting.

Gardai have now said that they believe he was the victim of a feud among criminal gangs in the capital.

He’s the first gang-related murder this year, reports RTE News.

Gardai have since recovered an AR-15 assault rifle among their searches. The rifle was discovered in a hedge after being disposed by the gunman who was fleeing the scene.

Itseli was known to Gardai and they are currently investigating if Mr Itseli himself was part of a gang who were on their way to carry out an attack when they were ambushed by others.

Itseli was in one of two cars which crashed at the scene.

Detectives suspect this could have been part of an interception or a double cross.

Three young men, one of whom is a teenager, were arrested just one kilometre away from the crime scene.

The three men, who were wearing bullet proof vests at the time of their arrests, are still being questioned.

One of them has been identified as a violent and dangerous criminal who was recently charged with a serious offence and was out on bail.

The same man was recently the victim of an attack and Gardai are investigating if he was seeking revenge when the murder occurred.

Detectives are also trying to identify a number of others who fled the scene after the shooting took place.

Gardai are appealing for anyone with any information to come forawrd and to contact Sundrive Road Garda Station on 01 666 6600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
