Who qualifies for CAO Round Zero offers

Almost 6,800 applicants across Ireland have received their CAO Round Zero offers today, as the Central Applications Office issued a total of 8,980 offers for third-level courses starting this autumn.

Those who have been offered a place have until 3pm on 11 August to accept it.

Round Zero offers go to applicants who are not competing with students awaiting their 2026 Leaving Certificate results, or who are assessed on other criteria.

That group includes graduate entry medicine applicants, additional mature applicants, deferred and Access applicants, and those presenting QQI FET/FETAC qualifications for courses with a quota for such candidates.

Of the 8,980 offers made to 6,792 applicants, there were 5,831 Level 8 offers and 3,149 Level 7/6 offers.

The offers can be viewed online now, and successful applicants will also receive an email and, where selected, a text message with the details.

CAO head of communications Eileen Keleghan has urged mature, deferred, graduate entry medicine and Access applicants to log into their CAO accounts today to check whether they have received an offer, as The Journal reported.

The reply deadline of 3pm on 11 August applies to this round only, with the main round of CAO offers to follow later in August once Leaving Cert results are issued.
