Outrage at peadophile Jeffrey Donaldson receiving special treatment

The prison is now locking down the jail when the former DUP MP is being moved from place to place.

Donaldson is finalising plans to appeal to his multiple convictions and frequently meeting with lawyers, where he must be guarded by officers leaving his cell to attend the visits.

The Belfast Telegraph reports that Donaldson is verbally abused by other prisoners who call him “a dirty nonce” and a paedophile.

Inmates are temporarily locked down while the former DUP leader is escorted between Moyola House — the prison's medical unit where he is being held — and the visiting area.

No other inmates are given this treatment and over crowding paired with hot summer weather is causing friction when the men are sent to their cells for Donaldson.

His appeal against his conviction was lodged with the High Court last Friday.

Donaldson was found guilty of 18 child abuse charges, including one count of rape, against two women when they were children.

His wife Eleanor Donaldson had faced a trial of the facts on mental health grounds. She did not participate in proceedings.

The jury found that she had done the acts in relation to all five charges — including four counts of aiding and abetting her husband’s offending.

The Northern Ireland Prison Service said: “It would be wholly inappropriate for the Northern Ireland Prison Service to comment on the specific management, location, conditions or circumstances of any individual prisoner."
