An alarming figure.

by Rudi Kinsella.

According to figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, there are 315 patients waiting on trolleys across hospitals in Ireland today.

This is a startling increase considering the numbers last year were significantly lower, and significantly higher than yesterday when there was only 231 people waiting on admission to hospitals.

These numbers come despite the fact that the Government have funded a number of initiatives designed to reduce overcrowding.

According to figures from INMO, there was 27 patients waiting on trolleys in South Tipperary General Hospital in Clonmel, which was the highest in the country. The figures also show that there are 20 people waiting for admission to the Mater hospital.
