Gardaí are investigating after partial human remains were discovered in north Dublin earlier today.
The remains, which multiple outlets are reporting to be a hand, were discovered in the Darndale area of Dublin this afternoon.
In a statement, Gardaí said they were alerted to the discovery of ‘partial human remains at a premises in Darndale, Dublin 17 this afternoon, Friday 21st February 2025’.
“A scene is currently being held and the State Pathologist has been notified, in line with standard practice.
“The remains will be removed for examination and DNA analysis, which will assist Gardaí in confirming the identityand determine the course of the investigation.
“Enquiries are ongoing,” read the statement.
Multiple outlets, including RTÉ, have reported that the remains are believed to be a hand and were discovered in the playground of a school in the area.
It is believed that the human limb was dropped in the school yard by a bird.
No children were present at the school due to the mid-term break.
