A pedestrian in his 40s has died following a collision in Waterford.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses following the fatal collision on the R448 in Sallypark, Waterford, this morning, Sunday, November 23.
Emergency services attended the scene shortly before 2.10am after a man had been struck by a car, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Coroner has been notified and a post mortem examination will take place in due course.
The driver of the car, a man in his 20s, was uninjured in the incident.
The road on the R448 from Rice’s Bridge to the New Rath Road roundabout remains closed and is preserved for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
Local diversions are in place.
In a statement, Gardaí said they are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
"Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R448 between 1:30am and 2:15am are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.
"Anyone with any information is asked to contact Waterford Garda Station on 051 305300, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
