People are understandably devastated that Kiely’s pub is closing down

But… where will we have our match day pints now?

One of Donnybrook’s most popular pubs is to close its doors after 30 years in business.

Kiely’s of Donnybrook have announced that the premises up for sale with owners Pat and Mary saying they made the decision to give their children a “shot at living their own lives.”

In a statement they said:

Yes it’s official folks Pat and I have decided to retire and we are giving our four wonderful children their shot at living their own lives. It took alot of soul searching to make this decision as we have had 30 wonderful years in Donnybrook and made life long friends not just in Ireland but across the world. We want to thank everyone for your support in that time and especially our hard working staff. It’s not goodbye yet as we expect to be around for several months yet so drop in for a chat.

In slightly better news, they announced that the closure would not be for a number of months so there’s still time to pay it a visit before the doors close.

But people have been quick to pay tribute to the business on social media following the announcement.
