PIC: The number of ’emigrate to’ searches in the UK in the last 24 hours

Tony Cuddihy

A lot of people want out.

Great Britain is set to begin its separation from the European Union, and many people are as scared as they are stunned.

These results are taken from within the United Kingdom and show a massive spike in people searching the term ’emigrate to’ on Google.

With David Cameron having resigned and a gloating Nigel Farage immediately admitting that he and the Vote Leave campaign misled the British public over promises to pump £350m-a-week into the National Health Service, people are confused and young people – in particular – are feeling let down by the older generations who voted to exit the EU.

Meanwhile, the Irish stock market has taken a pummelling since this morning’s result, while the pound weakened by almost 10% overnight – it was the biggest contraction in wealth in the UK since 1921.
