
PICS: A number of streets closed in Galway city centre due to partial road collapse
Repair work in Galway city centre is expected to be completed by the end of Monday.
A number of streets in Galway city centre were subject to emergency closure following the collapse of a drain underneath Cross Street on Monday.
Enda Cunningham of the Connacht Tribune and Galway City Tribune posted a picture on Twitter of a sinkhole approximately two and a half feet deep that had developed on Cross Street after part of the road collapsed on Monday morning.

In a statement on Monday, Galway City Council said that Flood Street, St. Augustine Street and Middle Street were all being closed so that essential repair works could be carried out.
The repair works are expected to be carried out by the end of Monday and guidance will be available for vehicles already parked on St. Augustine Street.
