Here is your post-Lorenzo weather forecast

Rory Cashin

Weather this week

This must be the silver lining part we keep hearing so much about…

Now that Lorenzo has pretty much tired itself out, we can look forward to the rest of the weekend, as well as early next week, as not having a storm on the horizon, which is definitely a plus.

But just how nice is it going to be? We are still in October after all, so we probably shouldn’t be breaking out the suncream, right?

Well, somehow, the temperatures are expected to get as high as 20 degrees in places in the next few days, which does feel very Ireland-in-October to us…

First up, let us take a look at the weekend.

Met Éireann predicts a cloudy and rainy start to our Saturday, before it clears up pretty much everywhere, and temperatures will get as high as 18 degrees.

Sunday will bring some spot-flooding in the evening due to potentially heavy localised rain, but for the most part, it will be mild and dry.

Monday will see temperatures as high as 20 degrees (double checks calendar, yep, definitely October), but Connacht and Ulster should prepare for at least some rain, while Tuesday and Wednesday will see strong winds at coastal areas, and temperatures returning to a norm for this time of year. Whatever that might be.

We could make up tomorrow and it will be somehow snowing and 35 degrees at the same time and we’ll all just nod and be like “Yeah, that seems about right…”
