Report: Six people feared dead as bin lorry drives into Christmas shoppers in Glasgow

Six people have reportedly died and many others injured when a bin lorry crashed into pedestrians in George Square in Glasgow city centre this afternoon.

The crowd were believed to have been waiting to cross the road outside Queen Street station by the Millennium Hotel in the centre of the city when the lorry left the road and collided with them.

A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed there is an “ongoing serious incident” in Glasgow’s George Square close to Queen Street Station.

As many as six ambulances are reported to be at the scene to deal with the many casualties, along with the police and fire service.

At the time of the crash, the city centre was packed with Christmas shoppers.
