Homenews

The two TDs were attempting to inspect a US military plane on the runway when they were detained by airport police. They have since been released.

The latest reports suggest that the duo are being held at Shannon Garda Station. Newstalk are now reporting that a rope ladder was also found near the terminal  building The Irish Independent spoke to Shannonwatch, a group who monitor the movement of military planes in and out of the airport, and they quote spokeperson Ed Horgan who confirms the arrests: "The aircraft were being guarded by the Irish army and Clare Daly and Mick Wallace were arrested by airport police quite close to the aircraft." The report goes on to say that they pair were stopped near a US Hercules transport plane and a Boeing 737 US military plane. RTE are now reporting that the duo were released at 1.30 today and a file is being sent to the DPP. More to follow...
