Richard Keys really should have known he had this coming to him

When you’re a well-known broadcaster and you quibble about paying 5p for a plastic bag to almost 170,000 followers on Twitter, you shouldn’t really be surprised about a response like this.

Ever since himself and Andy Gray were controversially dismissed from Sky a couple of years back, we don’t see as much of Richard Keys as we used to, but he’s keeping himself busy as a football presenter with the likes of TalkSport and Al Jazeera and he’s fairly active on Twitter as well.

Have a quick glance through Keys’ Twitter feed and you’ll realise that he can be quite confrontational when the mood takes him but, as was pointed out by the Second Captains on Twitter a little earlier, he really shouldn’t have been surprised when he tweeted about taking a stand about the price of plastic bags in Marks and Spencer this morning.

In fairness to Keys, his follow-up tweets reveal that it was as a matter of principle that he walked out of M&S but as was pointed out by the always excellent Accidental Partridge account (who also picked up on his M&S tweet) it probably wasn’t the most cringe-worthy post sent from his account of late.
