The search is on for the best roast dinner in Ireland

Who doesn't love a good roast?

There are few things in life more deserving of praise than a good old fashioned roast dinner. Sundays can be quite grim as the weekend draws to a close, but knowing that there is a roast dinner on the way is enough to keep you going. And if there is a roast that you've had lately that stood out from the rest, it could be time to give them the credit they deserve. Ireland’s Great Roast 2019 competition (previously known as Great Carvery of the Year competition) is underway, and they are looking for the best roast dinner served up by pubs and hotels across the country. Applications are open from 8 July until 29 September, and pubs and hotels in Ireland must explain why their roast should be crowned the top roast dinner, including a photo of the roast and a link or photo of the menu. Simple.

As well as winning the prestigious title of Ireland’s Great Roast 2019, the overall pub and hotel winners will have a chance to win up to €3,000 worth of kitchen equipment, as well as Chef Rewards points and branded chef jackets.

Launching the revamped Ireland’s Great Roast 2019 competition, Unilever Food Solutions’ Customer Director, Jim Reeves said: “The Great Roast competition has grown from strength to strength since it began 10 years ago. To facilitate a broader menu offering, we have optimised the entry requirements, opening it to any pub or hotel that regularly serves roast dinners. “Ireland’s Great Roast 2019 continues to seek out the best of the best in Irish culinary tradition, rewarding their competencies for exceptional, great-tasting roast dinners.
