The Rubberbandits perfectly sum up the news about Bertie Ahern’s possible return

Apt.

Given that the Rubberbandits are part of a minority of people that consistently speak sense about the issues in Irish society, their opinion about Bertie Ahern’s potential return to the political realm is as valid as most.

The comedians gas cuntists have proven that they’re not afraid to speak openly about the important issues in Irish society like mental health, gender equality and our own history. Blindboy Boatclub and Mr Chrome have also weighed in on Fianna Fáil’s recent upswing in votes following the last general election.

As you may know, news broke last night that the Fianna Fáil Dublin Central constituency had unanimously passed a motion calling for a letter to be written to Bertie Ahern asking the former Taoiseach to rejoin the party.

Ahern, who served as Taoiseach from 1997 until 2008, resigned from Fianna Fáil in 2012 after a motion was proposed to expel him as a member following the revelations of the Mahon Tribunal.

Although accusations of corruption against Ahern were not sustained, he was found to have received payments from developers and his explanations for those payments were “summarily rejected”.

The Rubebrbandits, just like a large majority of the Irish public, haven’t forgotten or forgiven this.
