“This would be a catastrophic development”
The Russians have delivered a warning in light of US president Donald Trump’s tactical nuke deliberations in Iran.
With Israel and Iran still locked in conflict, the former’s US backing means they could benefit from a “bunker buster” capable of inflicting massive damage on Iran’s subterranean nuclear site – maybe even total destruction.
The facility in question, Fordo, is buried within a mountain region 60 miles from Tehran, yet Iran’s weaponry cannot penetrate enough ground to get to it should they strike.
Should the Americans intervene by unleashing their GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators (MOPs), Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov believes it could lead to catastrophe.
He told the TASS news agency today (June 20) that despite “a lot of speculations” surrounding Trump’s future involvement in the Middle East, “it’s impossible to comment on them” other than it would spell serious trouble.
Up until 2009, Fordo was a top secret uranium enrichment site, but thanks to Western intelligence operatives the world is now aware of it.

Meanwhile, Trump recently issued a terrifying threat towards Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei, claiming that they know “where he is hiding” although they’re not ready to kill him just yet.
He wrote on Truth Social: “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there – We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now. But we don’t want missiles shot at civilians, or American soldiers. Our patience is wearing thin. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
According to officials, the US is now deploying more fighter jets in the Middle East and the president is due to meet his national security squad in the White House’s Situation Room. It is here that they’ll discuss the war between Iran and Israel and their place in it.
