Ryanair Irish pilots strike

Some good news for anyone that’s travelling soon.

An agreement has been reached in the negotiations between Ryanair and the pilot’s union Fórsa, RTÉ have reported.

The dispute between the airline and some of its Irish pilots revolved around base transfers, promotions, annual leave and other issues.

As previously reported, the strikes have led to a litany of flights being cancelled in recent weeks and the dispute resulted in Dublin-based pilots at Ryanair taking five days of industrial action.

The agreement comes after a recent round of negotiations, lasting 22 hours, which ended at 7.30am on Thursday morning.

The proposed agreement will now be balloted by members of Fórsa and the pilots’ union is recommending that it is accepted.

Ryanair has released the following statement: “Ryanair today (23 Aug) confirmed that overnight it had reached agreement with FORSA union and its Irish pilots committee on behalf of Republic of Ireland based pilots. Ryanair will take these proposals to its Board in due course after the Irish based pilots have voted on this signed agreement. The mediator, Kieran Mulvey, has asked both sides to refrain from further comment until the ballot has concluded and we will respect his wishes.”
