Saturday was the hottest day of the year, but the best may be yet to come

Fingers crossed…

At this stage, you’ve probably seen upwards of 12 million Snapchats and Instagram Stories of the sunny weather with the temperature displayed on the screen.

We’re here to inform you, that these annoying Snapchats and Instas aren’t going to stop over the next few days.

But on a positive note, it’s because the warm weather looks set to last for another few days at least.

Saturday was the hottest day of the year so far, with temperatures of 26.8 degrees recorded in the Phoenix Park.

But Sunday is to be promised equally warm as early mist and fog clears, leaving a warm and sunny day for the bulk of the country.

Top temperatures will be between 23-26 degrees, although it will be slightly colder in the north-west of the country.

Monday has the potential to be even warmer, especially in the south of the country, as top temperatures could range between 23-27 degrees. Although once again, north Connacht and Ulster will be slightly cooler.

The south-west are in for the best of the weather on Tuesday, with temperatures reaching 23-26 degrees. While in the north and east, it will feel cooler with north-east to east wind becoming established.

The north have had some lower temperatures compared to the rest of the country, but Wednesday looks set to be the best for them with temperatures up to 26 degrees in the north-west.

But unfortunately, Thursday seems to spell the end of the current warm period as we swap sun for some unsettled weather for a time.
