Six vehicles, towing devices and €18,600 seized in CAB operation spanning eight counties

21 searches were conducted this morning.

A major search operation conducted by the Criminal Assets Bureau today saw Gardaí seize vehicles, money, counterfeit cash and car-towing equipment.

According to a statement issued by Gardaí on Thursday afternoon, the search on Thursday morning was focused on “targeting the assets and activities of an organised criminal group involved in the sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Longford area.”

The search was carried out by the CAB in conjunction with the Garda Emergency Response Unit, Garda Regional Armed Support Unit (Western Region) and local Gardaí attached to the Longford Garda District.

A total of twenty one searches were conducted across eight different counties: Longford, Offaly, Laois, Westmeath, Tipperary, Cavan, Roscommon and Dublin.

A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána provided a full itinerary of the seized items:

  • Car towing dolly
  • 3 Rolex watches
  • Designer handbags
  • €18,600 cash
  • Fake €20 notes
  • Financial documents
  • Computers and mobile phones
  • Drugs paraphernalia

One man was arrested over the course of the searches, and is being held under the Criminal Justice (Theft and Fraud) Offences Act, 2001.
