The impacts of the weather conditions include ‘expected flooding’ and ‘very difficult travelling conditions’.
Three counties have been issued a Status Orange weather warning as “heavy” rain is set to hit Ireland.
The orange rain alert from Met Éireann applies to the counties Donegal, Galway and Mayo and is scheduled to take effect from 12am to 10am on Bank Holiday Monday (5 August).
The warning reads: “Heavy and persistent rain with strong and gusty southerly winds, especially in exposed areas.
“Impacts: Flooding expected, very difficult travelling conditions, poor visibility.”

Met Éireann has also issued a Status Yellow rain alert to the counties of Clare and Donegal, as well as the entire province of Connacht.
This is currently in effect and is set to last until 12pm on Monday.
The Irish meteorological service’s forecast outlook for the next few days reads:
“Generally mixed conditions with rain or showers at times but also with good dry and bright periods. Temperatures generally in the high teens or low twenties.”
