Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow weather warning for three counties as a heavy bout of rainfall closes in on the country.
Issued on Tuesday morning but not vaild until Wednesday, the warning concerns Cork, Kerry and Waterford.
Per the national forecaster, several bands of heavy rainfall will bring accumulations of 30 – 50 millimetres, with higher totals likely in mountainous regions.
This rainfall may lead to localised flooding and hazardous driving conditions.
The warning comes into effect from Wednesday morning (22 December) at 2am and is valid until Thursday morning at 6am.
If you’re out and about in any of those counties, be advised.
As for the general weather forecast… well, it’s pretty dour to be honest.
Met Éireann says to expect a generally dull and cloudy day on Tuesday, with highest temperatures of 4 to 9 degrees during the daytime.
As for the evening, lowest temperatures will range between 3 and 7 degrees.
It should be dry enough to begin with before rain hits Connaught, Munster and parts of Leinster overnight, leading to the weather warning making its presence felt.
