Status yellow rainfall warning issued for three counties

Rory Cashin

weather warning

Almost 30 straight hours of heavy rain are expected.

Following on from the yellow rain warning issued earlier this week, which was expected to be lifted on midnight tonight (Thursday 30 May), Met Éireann has now expanded that weather warning out to Friday.

According to the latest status yellow rain warning, Donegal, Galway, and Mayo should expect “spells of persistent rain will give totals of 25 to 35 mm in parts, mainly over high ground”.

This warning is expected to remain in effect from 10am on Thursday morning right up to 3pm on Friday 31 June, which is 29 hours of heavy rain.

Things don’t look too much better over the rest of the weekend, as while temperatures are expected to reach as high as 17 degrees in places, there are still plenty of scattered showers on the horizon.

Not the best start to June, to be honest.
