Status Yellow warning for every county as Storm Barra set to hit this week

Travel disruptions are expected.

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow wind warning for every county in Ireland in anticipation of the arrival of Storm Barra. It will be a wet and windy start to the week, with temperatures dropping to between 5 and 9 degrees Celsius. The storm is set to first hit western coastal shores on Sunday evening (5 December), with a Status Yellow gale warning issued from Slyne Head to the Bloody Foreland. Through Tuesday and on to Wednesday morning, Storm Barra is set to bring gale force winds and heavy rainfall across the country. Some of the showers will also bring the chance of isolated thunderstorms, hail and sleet, heaviest and most frequent in the north and west. Wednesday will remain blustery, but conditions should clear up and improve by Thursday. Met Éireann are anticipating travel disruptions due to the storm, and are continuing to monitor the situation.
