Stay warm as snow and ice warning still in effect on Sunday

snow warning

A lot of areas got snow last night and this morning…

Met Éireann issued a nationwide status yellow snow and ice warning for the whole day on Sunday.

They’ve warned that on Sunday, wintry showers will give accumulations of up to 3 cm of snow, with larger amounts on higher ground, especially in Ulster and Connacht.

Snow hit many areas of the country last night causing dangerous conditions on roads and hampering sporting fixtures on Sunday.

Drivers have been warned by the AA to exercise caution, especially in the west and north.

Slow down and remember that stopping distances are up to ten times longer on icy roads. Allow plenty of extra time to de-ice your car before your journey.

Temperatures will peak at just four degrees during the day and winds will make it feel far colder.

Wintry showers will continue  tonight with accumulations of snow in places so people who are using the roads on Monday morning are advised to take extreme caution and leave more time for your journey.
