The man who died in Donegal after a tree fell on a car during Storm Éowyn has been named as 20-year-old Kacper Dudek.

At around 5.30am on Friday (24 January), Gardaí were alerted to a serious road traffic incident at Feddyglass in Raphoe.

Subsequently, Gardaí and local emergency services attended the scene where, during the storm, a tree fell on a car.

A man – later identified by An Garda Síochána as Mr Dudek – was fatally injured during the incident.

“The body of the deceased man has been removed from the scene to the mortuary in Letterkenny University Hospital where a post-mortem examination will take place in due course,” a Garda spokesperson said.

“A Family Liaison Officer (FLO) has been assigned to provide support to the family of Mr Dudek (RIP).”
