The warning is valid from Saturday evening on.
Met Éireann has issued a status yellow high intensity rainfall warning for Ireland, with Storm Ernesto on the way this weekend.
The subtropical storm recently formed over the north Atlantic and is set to reach Ireland on Saturday evening.
On Friday afternoon, Met Éireann officially issued the yellow warning for many areas of the country
Rainfall totals of up to 20mm could occur quite widely with higher falls expected locally as Met Éireann continue to monitor the situation.
Based on current predictions, Northern areas are the most likely to be affected.
The warning is valid from Saturday 18 August at 8pm until Sunday 19 August at 8am.
