Coast flooding is anticipated, along with “severe and damaging winds”.

Friday (18 February) is set to be very wet and windy, as Met Éireann has issued major warnings in several counties ahead of Storm Eunice.

Status Red Storm warnings have been issued in Cork and Kerry from 3am on Friday to 8am that morning.

Storm Eunice is set to travel quickly over Ireland tonight (17 February) and Friday morning bringing severe and damaging winds, with gusts in excess of 130km/h.

Met Éireann is also anticipating coastal flooding, particularly at high tide.

Status Orange Storm warnings have been issued across the country, with a Weather warning in place for Clare, Galway, Waterford, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Carlow, Wicklow, Laois, Offaly, and Dublin.

Winds are expected to reach mean speeds of 65km/h to 80km/h with potential gusts as well.

Status Orange Snow warnings have also been issued across the west coast, with heavy sleet and snow leading to blizzard-like conditions expected in Donegal, Leitrim, Sligo, Mayo, and Roscommon.

Treacherous driving conditions are expected in those counties, with the warning in place from 3am Friday until 3pm.

A Status Yellow Wind and Rain and Snow warning has been issued across the whole country, and that warning is in place from 1am Friday until 3pm that day.

Met Éireann said that Storm Eunice “has the potential to be a multi-hazard and disruptive event with damaging winds, heavy rain and snow possible.”
