You can’t plan a thing in this country…
Leopardstown Racecourse have let students know that the annual Spin 1038 Student Race Day is cancelled, following heavy rainfall overnight.
The race day is one of the most highly-anticipated events of the year for Irish students.
Unfortunately due to heavy rain in the past 24 hours @spin1038 Student Race Day is cancelled. We are really sorry about this and would love to welcome back all students on the rescheduled date which will be confirmed asap. pic.twitter.com/DmIYAKUbgf

Students from all over the country were due to travel to the event, with a number of them having started their journey by the time they heard it was called off.
As you can imagine, some of those who replied to the announcement on Twitter were not best pleased, but a number of courageous students claimed they would have been willing to brave the conditions.

The event is set to be rescheduled for a later date, but some students have already voiced their concerns with this idea, given that exam season is fast approaching.
You’d have to feel bad for those who were making a long journey just for the races, but something tells us that the weather won’t prove too much of a deterrent to most of them making alternative plans to have a good time even if it is lashing outside.
