Carl Kinsella

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued an alert over a recall of bagged sugar.

The alert notes that as a precautionary measure, Whitworths Sugar is initiating a recall of batches of its Whitworths Granulated Sugar, due to the possible presence of small pieces of metal wire.

According to the warning by the FSAI, the sugar concerned has been sold in Dealz stores.

Consumers that purchased the implicated batches are advised to return the product to the store it was purchased from for a full refund.

The official name for the affected product is Whitworths Granulated Sugar; pack size: 1.65kg. The FSAI has also provided the product’s batch code in order to help with identification: F301U81902 and F301U81933. The origin country of the product is unknown, according to the FSAI.

The FSAI has further attached photos of the product in order to help consumers identify possibly affected sugar.

The alert can be read in full here.
