Three siblings who died in violent stabbing in Tallaght named by Gardaí

A man remains in custody in relation to the incident.

Gardaí in Tallaght continue to investigate all possible circumstances surrounding the deaths of three siblings at a residence in the Rossfield Estate in the early hours of Sunday, 4 September. The victims have now been named as 18-year-old Lisa Cash and her siblings; twins Christy and Chelsea Cawley, both eight years of age. It is understood that they were the victims of a violent stabbing incident. Their brother, aged 14, remains in Tallaght University Hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries. Twins Chelsea and Christy Cawley Their mother, a woman aged in her 40s who has not been named, has been released from hospital. She is currently being supported by her family and a family liaison officer provided by An Garda Síochána. As of late Sunday afternoon, the scene at Rossfield Estate remains preserved for a forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau. Post-mortem examinations on the bodies of the deceased will take place on Sunday and Monday by State Pathologist Dr Sally Anne Collis. Lisa Cash The man in his early 20s who was arrested in connection with the incident continues to be detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Tallaght Garda Station. The man was arrested following an intervention by Garda Armed Support Unit members that involved the discharge of "less than lethal" devices. Gardaí, in describing the incident as "violent. challenging and traumatic", noted that the incident was responded to be uniform unarmed Garda first respoonders from the Tallaght District. They were supported by uniform members and armed detectives from the wider DMR South Division and Specialist Armed Support Unit members.
