Teenager dies following collision in Limerick

Tragic news.

A pedestrian has died following a collision in Limerick on Sunday (21 August).

Shortly before 4am, Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the scene in Cappamore.

The incident involving a car and a pedestrian occurred on a local road at Dromsally.

The pedestrian, a man in his late teens, was treated at the scene and taken by ambulance to University Hospital Limerick where he was later pronounced dead.

The local Coroner has been informed, and Garda Forensic Collision Investigators have been requested to examine the scene. The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for any witness to contact them.
