Get ready to hear a lot of “It is too cold to snow…”
Over the weekend, Met Éireann stated that this week could see the first proper snowfall of the season, but on Monday morning (November 11), they updated that prediction, with snow no longer on the agenda. (Sort of…)
And it isn’t because things have taken a positive turn. Nope, it is because it is going to be even colder than they initially thought.
Tonight and Tuesday night will see temperatures drop to between one and four degrees, but every other night this week will see the thermometer drop below zero.
Wednesday night (the night when we were initially supposed to get that snow) will see temperatures drop to as low as -1, with rain and sleet across most of the country. Although Met Éireann do state that there is “a risk of some wintry falls on higher ground” that night, which could be an artful way of saying snow? We’ll have to wait and see.
Thursday night will see less rain, but temperatures staying as low as -1, while Friday night is expected to drop to as low as -2, with patches of mist and fog expected to form overnight.
Meanwhile, though the widespread snow hasn’t arrived yet, Sunday night (November 10) did see this hit the high grounds of Donegal.
Winter is indeed coming…
