Be on your guard here.
Tesco Mobile Ireland has urged its customers to ignore an SMS-based scam that is currently doing the rounds.
The text message in question uses the Tesco brand to promote special offers and competitions, none of which are valid.
On Thursday afternoon, Tesco released a statement via the Tesco Mobile Ireland Twitter account, noting that they have “no association or involvement” with any competition or offer advertised via this specific SMS.
If customers receive the message, they are advised to delete it immediately without clicking on any links and to block the number where possible.
“Tesco Mobile does not participate in any premium service and we don’t cold text anyone to enter competitions,” notes the official statement.
Tesco Mobile Ireland also apologised for any convenience caused.
