We’ve heard of budgie smugglers but this fella in Cuba has taken it all too literally.
It is never, repeat never, a good idea to try and smuggle anything onto an aeroplane. It is a shortcut to a long spell in the clink and the way you get checked at airports these days, you will almost certainly get caught in the act.
That makes us wonder what possesses this Cuban man to try and conceal a rather bizarre cargo in his pants for a flight to the US.
According to the Daily Mail, the unnamed man was stopped at Ignacio Agramonte International Airport in Camaguay when they noticed ‘a bulge’ in his pants.
When questioned, the man told customs it was ‘only a pigeon for his grandson’, which wasn’t much of a defence, but on further inspection an even more weird feathered stash was found.
Sixty six tiny birds, mainly young hummingbirds and finches, were found down his pants, many of whom had their beaks sealed to prevent them from making noise. Two were found to be dead.
The man faces up to two years in prison if convicted for smuggling exotic and rare species.
