We can’t get over the amount of people who applied.

A job with An Garda Síochána is a coveted position it seems after a massive number of people applied to join the force’s new recruits.

According to the Irish Times, a staggering 27,000 people applied to train for the new positions in Templemore, with 300 people making the cut this time around.

A class of 100 started training yesterday and two 100-strong classes began theirs late last year. The first of them will start work at Garda stations in May.

Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald said the Government was committed to ongoing recruitment and that they’ll assess retirement trends to keep on top of the needs of communities.

Best of luck to the new recruits, hopefully it’ll be nothing like this.
