Ireland, you’re just one big pack of rides.
It was inevitable from a long way off but now we know for sure: Article 41 of the Constitution has now been amended to include the line: “Marriage may be contracted in accordance with law by two persons without distinction as to their sex.”
The yes vote passed with 62.41% support in what was the highest turnout for any referendum in the history of the state; only one of the 43 constituencies in the country (Roscommon/South Leitrim) supported a ‘No’ vote.
On such a historic day, we expected a massive reaction but to be honest about it, what has transpired has exceeded the wildest of expectations.
Not surprisingly, Twitter nearly exploded.
IRELAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To celebrate the Irish #MarRef result, the Eurovision has promised to dial down its suffocating heterosexual overtones tonight.

Anyway, all this constituency stuff is redundant. So very #proudtobeIrish today. *throws accusing glare towards South Leitrim. #YESFORLOVE
