The top two reasons why a car fails the NCT test have been revealed

It’s always the small things.

Irish people usually have two different approaches to the NCT test.

They either get the car fully serviced beforehand and hope for the best, or they do the test and then fix everything that’s wrong with the car before doing a re-test.

A report in the Irish Sun today might be a help for the next time you’re taking the test, because they’ve revealed the two main reasons cars fail – lighting and electrical faults.

Make sure all those bulbs are working properly and there are no lights on the dash. It might be a bit more complicated than that so talk to your mechanic.

The report has also revealed the make of car that’s most likely to pass the NCT test.

The data which, looked at figures from 2013, showed that the Toyota Auris proved to be the most reliable.
