Three children were also injured in the collision.
Three people in their 20s have died and a child is in serious condition following a two-car crash in Meath.
The collision occurred at 4.25pm on New Year’s Eve at the N52 in Kells.
The driver of one of the vehicles, a woman in her early 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in this car, a man in his early 20s, was treated at the scene before being brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where he died en route.
In the second car, a female driver in her mid-20s was critically injured at the scene and was taken to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown where she later passed away.
Three children in the second car, two girls and a boy, were also taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.
Gardaí said the boy is seriously injured and that the girls have non-life-threatening injuries.
A forensic examination of the scene has been completed and the road has been reopened.
