The young boy was transferred to St. James’ Hospital on Sunday morning.

A child who sustained multiple injuries after falling from a balcony located on the sixth floor of a Limerick hotel has been transferred to Temple Street Hospital in Dublin.

The child fell from a balcony on the sixth floor of the Strand Hotel on the Ennis Road in Limerick and after being treated at the scene, was moved to the University of Limerick Hospital on Saturday afternoon.

According to the Limerick Leader, the boy was treated at the scene by a doctor who had been present at Niall Colgan hairdressing, located underneath the Strand Hotel, at the time of the accident.

Gardai described his condition as critical on Saturday evening and the boy was transferred to Temple Street Hospital on Sunday morning.

Together with the hotel, the Gardai are investigating how the incident occurred; it is not believed the boy’s family were present in the hotel at the time.
