A tragic end to the search for the 19-year-old who had been missing since Thursday night.

Yesterday we joined the many different media outlets who appealed for information about missing Galway man Sean Igoe. Sadly, the search for Sean has come to a tragic end as it has now been confirmed that a body found in the River Corrib on Saturday afternoon was indeed that of the student.

The Igoe family posted their appreciation to everyone who took part in the search on the Facebook page set up to help with the search operation:

The Igoe family wish to thank everyone who took part in the search or helped in any other way to find their beloved son, Seán. The family will spend this evening and tomorrow morning by themselves for time together after their tragic loss and to reunite with their daughter Caitriona who is arriving home from America. The family look forward to seeing their friends and neighbours tomorrow, Sunday evening. The family will follow with a further notice when funeral arrangements are finalised.
