UPDATE: Three people have died and several others have been injured in Waterford crash

Tragic news.

At least three people have died and several others injured following a two car collision in Waterford.

The collision occurred on the Military Road in Dungarvan after 9am this morning.

According to the Irish Independent, the deceased have not yet been identified. The collision involved a small saloon car and a seven seater people carrier containing four children.

The three people lost their lives when their car caught fire after colliding with a people carrier.

Six people were airlifted to hospital after the incident with three of those, including a child, said to be in critical condition.

The other three, all children, are said to be in a serious condition in Cork University Hospital and University Hospital Waterford.

Gardí are appealing for witnesses who travelled on the stretch of road and may have seen something to contact Dungarvan Garda Station at (058) 48600.
