Two people have been killed in separate road crashes overnight.
Gardai have confirmed that a woman in her 20 died in a crash in Co Louth in the early hours of this morning.
The woman was a passenger in a van which crashed into a tree in Carnalogue shortly before 2am, reports RTE News.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second passenger, a man also in his 20s, is being treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for injuries which are not believed to be life threatening.
Another man died following a crash in Mayo.
Meanwhile, a man in his 40s died following a single vehicle crash in Co. Mayo.
The man died at the scene when the car he was driving crashed on the N17 in Claremorris.
The road was closed yesterday evening and the section of the N17 between Ballindine and Claremorris remains closed as a forensic operation is carried out.
