They were arrested in Dublin and Belfast.
Two men have been arrested following a fatal stabbing in Dublin city centre over the weekend.
34-year-old Quam Babatunde, who was a Nigerian national, was found with serious knife injuries on Saturday morning before he was rushed to St James’ Hospital where he passed away.
Another man also suffered stab wounds and was treated at the same hospital.
These injuries were non-life-threatening.
Gardai shared an update this morning explaining that two men have now been arrested in Dublin and Belfast in connection with their investigation.
A Garda spokesperson explained: “Gardaí have arrested a man as part of the investigation into the fatal assault on Anne Street/Duke Lane Upper, Dublin 2 in the early hours of this morning Saturday 15th February 2025.
‘The man, aged in his 20s, was arrested following searches in Dublin this morning, Monday 17th February 2025.
“A second man has been arrested in Belfast by the PSNI and is detained at a Police Station in Northern Ireland.”
Gardai have continued their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
They explained: “Gardaí are particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have information about any of these incidents or has any mobile phone footage recorded at the relevant locations, and any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area or in the vicinity of Dawson Street and St. Stephens Green at the time are asked to make this footage available to investigating Gardaí.”
