Nine victims of a man branded the Irish ‘Tinder Swindler’ have come forward to Gardaí.

Victims of a man branded the Irish ‘Tinder Swindler’ have made contact with Gardaí, the Irish Mirror has revealed.

Nine people have made contact thus far, however investigators believe there are numerous other victims and have encouraged them to come forward.

A man in his 30s is alleged to have deceived his victims into giving him money while dating them.

He is believed to have swindled hundreds of euros from each of his victims.

The man met his victims through a variety of dating apps, claiming to be a wealthy neurosurgeon, trained in combat medicine and a banker, reported the Irish Mirror.

Additionally, he told victims he was a member of the British Royal family.

The man operated by telling his dates that his bank card had been cancelled or stolen, letting his victims pick up the tab.

According to the Irish Mirror, he told his victims he would pay them back for the meal and drinks, showing them a fake transfer of the cash to their bank accounts later , however the money never arrived in their accounts.

He is thought to have scammed each victim of between €250 to €500, the lower amounts of money making his scam more believable when on dates.

After an investigation into the numerous romance fraud complaints, the man was arrested in a planned operation earlier this month where number of electronic items were seized.

He has since been released without charge while a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
