A GoFundMe was set up following a brutal attack took place this month on a gay couple in Portlaoise.

Collie Aquino Teixeira McQuillan and his partner were assaulted with hurls by a gang of young adults.

Collie, who set up the GoFundMe, posted this description of his injuries: “My lower jaw line has splintered bone and I have lost 2 teeth and another 2 teeth have been broken in half. Due to the impact there is nerve damage to my teeth and will require root canals to save them.”

Both men were brought to St. James Hospital following the assaults, where their injuries were treated.

He has since posted his response to the donations, which is at almost €5,000 at the time of writing, saying: “Everyone’s support is really shocking i am so so grateful for each and every donation that everyone has given! The overall cost of repairing the damage is €8220. I never thought in my wildest dreams I would even get €100! With all the support and help I have decided that I should change the goal to reach closer to the overall costs.”

You can access the GoFundMe account here for more information, or if you wish to donate.
