Very moving footage from the French National Assembly…

The lower house of France’s parliament, the National Assembly, assembled this afternoon to discuss the issue of terrorism and national safety in light of the tragic events in Paris this week.

Before the politicians settled down to business they took a moment to reflect and commemorate the victims of the Charlie Hebdo killings and also pay tribute to the policemen who lost their lives in pursuit of the perpetrators.

There was a sombre and reflective mood in the French capital today as the three coffins of the officers were laid out at the central police station in front of President François Hollande but France’s politicians did their very best to epitomise the nations founding principles of Liberté, Égalité and Fraternité.

This video is incredibly moving.
