An insight into what members of An Garda Síochána face.
The Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors (AGSI) are meeting this week with a number of issues on the agenda.
Body cameras, improved equipment and a restoration of pay to 2008 levels have been the main topics discussed so far but amidst all of this, the issue of security for members of An Garda Síochána has been prominent.

One of the issues that was raised related to the use of personal miniature cameras. To support their usage, footage was played to those in attendance which provides a shocking insight into the levels of abuse and threats that members of An Garda Síochána face on a regular basis.
Take a look as an angry and abusive man threatens the Garda and his family after he was arrested.
The most startling moment in this NSFW clip contains the threat that he’ll “f*****g lope the head off you” and then “find out where your wife lives and your kids”.
