Video: Irish brothers create one of the most brilliantly epic Best Man speeches we’ve ever seen

As JOE's granny used to say, "it's a long one but it's a good one."

As JOE’s granny used to say, “it’s a long one but it’s a good one.”

First the RTÉ panel and now this!

As Best Man speeches go, this is destined to be an absolute classic. Shot by Coen Brothers Mulligan brothers Alan and Anthony, the talented pair opted to script, direct and star in a short film instead of writing a traditional best man’s speech for the wedding of their brother Paul and his beautiful bride Aisling.

Alan, whose family is from Charlestown, Co. Mayo, told the lovely ladies of Her.ie that “when our brother asked us to be best men we wanted to do something different for him, especially since our mother had passed away almost 10 years ago and Paul is the first in a family of five kids to get married.”

“Something different” is most certainly an understatement and God help anyone else who decides to get married in their family, because the Best Man bar has now been set ridiculously high with Meatloaf, Oompa Loompas and a slightly worse-for-wear Spiderman all making an appearance of sorts.

Unsurprisingly, the speeches and video received a standing ovation on Easter Sunday, the day of the wedding at the Castle Dargan Hotel in Sligo and, according to Alan, “the manager said that he had been doing over 80 weddings a year for years and had never ever seen anything like it.”

At 18 minutes long we realise it’s significantly longer than your average 38 second Keyboard Cat YouTube video, but the fantastically funny film is absolutely brilliant stuff and most certainly worth your time. Hats off to all involved in the making of the clip and, here at JOE, we wish Paul and Aisling the very best of luck for the future.

Sit back and enjoy…

Hat-tip to Her.ie for this super story.
